David Hou

David Hou is a Managing Partner of Evoke Advisors. David has advised institutional clients and high net worth family offices since 1992.

David joined the wealth management industry in September 1992 after graduating with an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and spent a combined 16 years at Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch. Prior to attending UCLA Anderson, David worked in the Financial Restructuring Group at Houlihan Lokey and graduated in 1988 from UCLA with a BS in Business/Economics.

In May 2008, David and his partners launched Luminous Capital, an independent, partner and employee-owned RIA. Luminous was acquired by First Republic Bank in November 2012. At the time, First Republic’s acquisition of Luminous was considered a watershed moment in the wealth management industry and helped to initiate a transformation of First Republic into a more diversified financial services institution. While at First Republic, David served as Senior Managing Director and was a member of the Altair Alternative Investments Committee, the bank’s private alternative investments platform.

David lives in Pacific Palisades with his wife and four children. He serves as an Advisory Board Member for the UCLA Fink Center for Finance, on the Investment Committee for the Cedars Sinai Endowment, and on the Board of Directors for the California Community Foundation.
